Today (17.Oct 12) I updated on my Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS via update-manager to
xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4.2 from 4.1 and then the
following issues appeared:
- The mouse cursor was flickering when draging a window or scrolling through
the main menu
- The X crashed when switching into console mode or logging out (freezed with
grey background, <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Del> didn't work)
- In Unity it automatically started 2d

I did a fresh install and removed xserver-xorg-video-intel from updating-list.
