Public bug reported: I started this version of Lubuntu for the first time in several months. I guess the nvidia driver tried to update itself (without my say-so) and failed.
Update Manager is concurrently informing me there's a system upgrade to Quantal Quetzal available. I plan to try the upgrade after I file this report. I'm a relative noob, just having fun, but I hope this helps. I'm assuming the "crash report" popup info will automatically attach itself to this? I'll run the command suggested: ubuntu-bug nvidia-graphics-drivers Joe ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.39-generic 3.2.16 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu8 Architecture: i386 DKMSKernelVersion: 3.2.0-26-generic Date: Thu Jul 5 18:26:05 2012 InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release i386 (20111012) PackageVersion: 295.40-0ubuntu1 SourcePackage: nvidia-graphics-drivers Title: nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-05-12 (174 days ago) ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-package i386 precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074249 Title: nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1074249/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
