@Christopher Hello. This problem is fixed in fglrx 12.8 and later so I don't think there is a need to debug it now. Howeer, it would be great if a newer version of fglrx could be backported to 12.04.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 now btw so I don't have the problem any more.
