Ubuntu 12.10

mine was fine until I tried enabling ati power save feature then the
flicker popped up and no matter what i have tried i can not get it to go
back to normal

even erased xorg.conf and tried purging xserver-xorg-video-*

echo dynpm > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_method
was all I did and even after reboot it defaulted back to profile / default
anyhow

if I install fglrx screen flicker stops

but because all I get is a black screen when i drop into terminals (
ALT + F1 ect ) and the when ever i turn of / on another monitor my
desktops get stuffed up i really want to use the open source drivers
