I've attached the Xorg.0.log.old for you viewing pleasure:) I also tried the latest mainline kernel as you suggested and still get the hang.
Instead of reverting the package, I modified that Xorg.conf file you provided earlier and changed AccelMethod sna to uxa and of course it works now. One other thing that occurred to me in. This machine is a pre- production version of a Dell Inspiron N5110 which is "borrowed" from PES. The BIOS is a pre-production BIOS and I have no way to upgrade it to the A Rev production BIOS. I wonder if that is playing into this since no one else seems to be affected by this (yet). ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log.old" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1103680/+attachment/3500081/+files/Xorg.0.log.old ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103680 Title: [sna] Hard hang when logging in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1103680/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
