Sorry i forgot to mention in comment #2 that i first tried to update the amd64 variant of the xorg-server from kubuntu-precise 12.04.1 to the quantal backport before (update of quantal-kernel was no problem). But it resulted in a DEFECTIVE xserver installation with only black screen after reboot and no chance to do do anything. Switching to console with strg-alt-F1 was not possible. The system installation was nearly fresh and only 1 or 2 weeks old and i had latest amd release drivers installed for a radeon hd 7750. Sadly i didn´t manage to repair this, so i made fresh install from ubuntu 12.04.2 and then added kubuntu-desktop with the issues in comment #2.
