Don't trust it, those measurements are not necessarily accurate, and the
dpi calculations in X are approximations, so they're overridden in gnome
to 96x96.

There used to be a way to adjust the dpi in gnome2 using the font
settings dialog iirc, but I'm not sure in gnome3 where to find it.
Probably you need a dconf setting.
