I have the same problem with my 900x3e. The first line of the screen is white, also when I reboot. When I completly shut down the laptop the line goes away for a few minutes and then comes back. When xubuntu is fully booted the line is only about 1/5 of full screen width, starting left.
It also happens once to me that I saw a line at about 200 pixels from top while surfing the web.
