Joseph, I'm not convinced that a kernel bug report would be appropriate here. As I've pointed out, a surprising amount of CPU time is being spent in nouveau_connector_detect which is presumably in the Nouveau kernel driver. The Nouveau project tracks its bugs separately from the Linux kernel; see http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/Bugs/. I thought about filing this at Nouveau, but that Web page says
