Yeah, I tried acpi_backlight=vendor on both Ubuntu and Xubuntu 13.04 x64 during and after the install and it worked successfully. Maybe this issue should be added to the Ubuntu 13.04 Release Notes page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RaringRingtail/ReleaseNotes
