Yes I've done some "experimental work"...I'm running Windows Xp and Ubuntu on the machine but I guess this should not cause any problem. And yes I've tried to setup Ubuntu to run Windows applications from Ubuntu but failed several times.
It doesn't matter if I close all applications or, not the msgbox is always there. So you see it's my own lack of knowledge that is causing the problem. I guess the easiest way, even if it doesn't solve the root cause, is to reinstall a new Ubuntu package. Yes I will backup important contents first. I think you can close this issue.
