I am somewhat used to having GPU lockups hang X for me maybe once a
week. I've followed a few vague bugs on the problem, but over the past
weekend this has grown to every couple of hours.
Easy ways to trigger it: changing workspaces too quickly while there is
disk activity, or letting the screensaver go into power saving mode on
the screen. The last one requires a hard reboot and I end up with the
screen in a very dim state after the boot.
Have a kern.log, if it helps.
