A comment: I could manage the full resolution of my Samsung laptop only
with the solution here:

(one million thanks). But my main problem was that the open-source
driver was not giving me the correct screen resolution, otherwise I
would have happily stay there. Is anyone on this bug aware of where I
can check that one? I am willing to help with the open source drivers
testing, if possible.
