Public bug reported: Sorry if slightly odd, this is the first time I report a bug...
After updating the following packages: Start-Date: 2013-10-18 12:14:26 Commandline: aptdaemon role='role-commit-packages' sender=':1.74' Upgrade: procps:amd64 (3.2.8-11ubuntu6.1, 3.2.8-11ubuntu6.2), libdrm-nouveau2:amd64 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libdrm-nouveau2:i386 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libglib2.0-data:amd64 (2.32.3-0ubuntu1, 2.32.4-0ubuntu1), xserver-common-lts-quantal:amd64 (1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1~precise3, 1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1~precise4), libgnome-control-center1:amd64 (3.4.2-0ubuntu0.12, 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.13), libdrm-radeon1:amd64 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libdrm-radeon1:i386 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), xserver-common:amd64 (1.11.4-0ubuntu10.13, 1.11.4-0ubuntu10.14), gnome-control-center-data:amd64 (3.4.2-0ubuntu0.12, 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.13), libglib2.0-0:amd64 (2.32.3-0ubuntu1, 2.32.4-0ubuntu1), libglib2.0-0:i386 (2.32.3-0ubuntu1, 2.32.4-0ubuntu1), libdrm2:amd64 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libdrm2:i386 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libdrm-nouveau1a:amd64 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libglib2.0-bin:amd64 (2.32.3 -0ubuntu1, 2.32.4-0ubuntu1), libdrm-intel1:amd64 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), libdrm-intel1:i386 (2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.2, 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3), yad:amd64 (0.23.0-1~webupd8~precise, 0.23.1-1~webupd8~precise), gnome-control-center:amd64 (3.4.2-0ubuntu0.12, 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.13), xserver-xorg-core-lts-quantal:amd64 (1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1~precise3, 1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1~precise4) End-Date: 2013-10-18 12:15:25 According to the suggestions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#Graphical_Environment I assume that the problem comes from the libdrm packages. I reboot my system and end up with black screens after the boot display. Restarting in recovery mode and choosing boot in safe graphic mode did not work. I had to restart the system and boot in recovery mode, remove all AMD drivers, reinstall the default basic display driver and reboot. The system then boot and gave me back access to the login page. I then reinstall the last version of the the AMD drivers (that were installed and running fine before).
