Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Dear all,
My problem is like this: on boot, Ubuntu chooses the wrong display settings. My
log in page and desktop do not use the entire screen. I am left with about one
inch of unused screen space on both sides. When I try fixing it with the Disply
option in System, things usually get worse. Note also that the problem is on
and off, being more on lately.

Thanks,
