I can confirm that it's caused by compiz not unity. I have removed unity and activated the compiz application switcher as alt+tab on precise doesn't work. Often, when I press alt-tab to switch application, ubuntu freezes and I cannot even use ctrl+alt+f1 It even happened with alt-f4 to close a window. Now I understand why alt+tab has been disabled on precise.
