cjcj, thank you for your comment. That's unfortunate it didn't previously work out for you, as my computer has been bug free and easy to install and use.
Despite this, you could always check for the problem via a live environment if you don't want to disrupt your installed one. As well, if you are looking to test Ubuntu as an additional development platform, nothing wrong with testing it out as a virtual machine using Virtualbox.
