Maarten Lankhorst, thanks for commenting towards this bug report. From personal experience, and others on Launchpad, utilizing the latest BIOS has addressed a myriad of problems, including touchpad issues (myself included). However, if you prefer not to see BIOS updates occur, I'm not going to argue with you.
