Public bug reported: I was on ubuntu 13.10 and was using manually installed amd beta graphics driver. Mfter y system has a hybrid Intel hd4400 and AMD Radeon 8670M graphics card. After upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 it booted to black screen. On tty1 I tried to run fglrxinfo , it returned "Command not found" Then I did sudo apt-get -purge fglrx* sudo reboot after rebooting got the same problem tried to install the same driver using sudo ./amd-driver-installer-13.35.1005-x86.x86_64.run and followed the instruction, then got an error msg "installation failed" tried manually building and installing, first it failed, then using Synaptic packet manager I fixed broken packages then tried to install , it installed , but on sudo aticonfig --initial it says unable to find command aticonfig rebooted again and ran fglrxinfo again unable to find command.
