Public bug reported:

This is a system that has been upgraded to new versions of ubuntu many
times. Recently I switched display drivers to nouveau from nvidia-331.

Upon rebooting, I'm stuck in 640x480. SystemSettings says I'm using
nouveau, but actually, I'm using VESA. This is because there are some
leftover files in modprobe.d/ that are blacklisting nouveau.

I think systemsettings should probably check if nouveau is in use before
saying it is, and remove blacklists against nouveau when it is
installing it!

grep nouveau /etc/modprobe.d/* --> http://paste.ubuntu.com/7448926/
