I can confirm now that downgrading to ubuntu-drivers-common=1:0.2.91.4 as suggested by Fabio actually seems to work, whereas ubuntu-drivers- common=1:0.2.91.5 was not enough. I also didn't have to reinstall nvidia drivers, the downgrade alone seems to be enough.
