Thank you everyone who helped to fix, or develop a workaround, for this issue. That is awesome.
I still have a hold on my "ubuntu-drivers-common" and "nvidia-common" packages, and I am wondering whether it is safe to remove these holds. I have a question detailing this situation here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/521354/multiple-monitors-and-nvidia- optimus-not-working-after-apt-get-update It seems that this bug is not entirely fixed, although there is a workaround available, so I am wondering whether it is safe to update my packages. Sorry if I have not understood the status on this bug, but an explanation or suggestions to help me follow future bugs would be greatly appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365695 Title: No longer able to use GUI after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates/+bug/1365695/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
