Thank you everyone who helped to fix, or develop a workaround, for this
issue. That is awesome.

I still have a hold on my "ubuntu-drivers-common" and "nvidia-common"
packages, and I am wondering whether it is safe to remove these holds. I
have a question detailing this situation here:

It seems that this bug is not entirely fixed, although there is a
workaround available, so I am wondering whether it is safe to update my
packages. Sorry if I have not understood the status on this bug, but an
explanation or suggestions to help me follow future bugs would be
greatly appreciated.
