Public bug reported: Since update to 14.10 i have 4 times same error. The screen is friezed. Mouse cursor moves itself, but I can't click anything. Switching to other tty works but need much time (about a minute). "top" shows no processes, which uses 100% CPU. But kern.log has: ------------[ cut here ]------------ Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.541913] WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 1597 at /build/buildd/linux-3.16.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:3324 intel_crtc_wait_for_pending_flips+0x16c/0x180 [i915]() Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.541916] Modules linked in: ctr ccm bnep rfcomm uvcvideo intel_rapl ath3k btusb x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp videobuf2_vmalloc snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic videobuf2_memops snd_hda_codec_hdmi videobuf2_core coretemp v4l2_common bluetooth videodev media 6lowpan_iphc snd_soc_rt5640 kvm_intel i915 kvm snd_soc_rl6231 arc4 snd_hda_intel ath9k ath9k_common snd_hda_controller ath9k_hw snd_soc_core ath snd_hda_codec mac80211 snd_compress snd_pcm_dmaengine snd_hwdep snd_pcm crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event snd_rawmidi snd_seq snd_seq_device snd_timer acer_wmi aes_x86_64 lrw sparse_keymap gf128mul cfg80211 glue_helper drm_kms_helper drm snd i2c_hid parport_pc mei_me ablk_helper ppdev i2c_designware_platform i2c_designware_core cryptd soc_button_array joydev serio_raw i2c_algo_bit lp parport mei snd_soc_sst_acpi video lpc_ich dw_dmac mac_hid dw_dmac_core spi_pxa2xx_platform shpchp 8250_dw soundcore wmi nls_iso8859_1 hid_generic usbhid hid psmouse tg3 ahci libahci ptp pps_core sdhci_pci sdhci_acpi sdhci Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542000] CPU: 3 PID: 1597 Comm: Xorg Not tainted 3.16.0-24-generic #32-Ubuntu Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542002] Hardware name: Acer Aspire E1-572/EA50_HW , BIOS V2.13 11/21/2013 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542005] 0000000000000009 ffff8800868b3c18 ffffffff8177fcbc 0000000000000000 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542009] ffff8800868b3c50 ffffffff8106fd8d 0000000000000000 ffff880153566000 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542013] ffff8801534a8210 ffff88008d4f7800 ffff88008d4f7800 ffff8800868b3c60 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542017] Call Trace: Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542028] [<ffffffff8177fcbc>] dump_stack+0x45/0x56 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542036] [<ffffffff8106fd8d>] warn_slowpath_common+0x7d/0xa0 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542040] [<ffffffff8106fe6a>] warn_slowpath_null+0x1a/0x20 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542068] [<ffffffffc0b4fffc>] intel_crtc_wait_for_pending_flips+0x16c/0x180 [i915] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542075] [<ffffffff810b9590>] ? prepare_to_wait_event+0x100/0x100 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542098] [<ffffffffc0b52ac3>] intel_crtc_disable_planes+0x33/0x1c0 [i915] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542103] [<ffffffff81784e5b>] ? __ww_mutex_lock+0x1b/0xb0 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542123] [<ffffffffc0b53a17>] haswell_crtc_disable+0x57/0x2e0 [i915] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542127] [<ffffffff81785ab2>] ? mutex_lock+0x12/0x30 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542148] [<ffffffffc0b54457>] intel_crtc_update_dpms+0x67/0xa0 [i915] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542170] [<ffffffffc0b58ac9>] intel_connector_dpms+0x59/0x70 [i915] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542194] [<ffffffffc059be19>] drm_mode_obj_set_property_ioctl+0x399/0x3a0 [drm] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542213] [<ffffffffc059be50>] drm_mode_connector_property_set_ioctl+0x30/0x40 [drm] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542226] [<ffffffffc058aa4f>] drm_ioctl+0x1df/0x680 [drm] Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542236] [<ffffffff810a9de8>] ? __enqueue_entity+0x78/0x80 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542244] [<ffffffff8101e04f>] ? __switch_to_xtra+0x13f/0x170 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542249] [<ffffffff811f4bc8>] do_vfs_ioctl+0x2c8/0x4a0 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542253] [<ffffffff8178294d>] ? __schedule+0x39d/0x890 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542257] [<ffffffff811f4e21>] SyS_ioctl+0x81/0xa0 Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542262] [<ffffffff81787ced>] system_call_fastpath+0x1a/0x1f Nov 10 17:42:44 bookaPF kernel: [ 991.542264] ---[ end trace 95ed265a8c3bde2c ]---
