Affects me too. Fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10 on brand new desktop computer with Intel integrated graphics. Launching directly gedit as only graphical application after boot, display freezes for a noticeable period of time (10-20 seconds) when editing with a mix of keyboard entry, keyboard shortcuts and mouse edition.
