@NaNo: I found another workaround: Can you please try to boot Karmic without the "quiet" "splash" boot options? (Hold SHIFT at startup to get in GRUB, press E, delete the only the words "quiet" and "splash", and press CTL+X) This worked for me.
Adding the package "usplash", because when Its turned off, it works. ** Also affects: usplash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- X doesn't start automatically any more after installing restricted nvidia drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/436578 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
