I effectively reported this problem a long time ago. Since that time, I tried about a dozen different versions of Linux distributions. With Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu or Lubuntu, the problem happens about every 2 hours, sometimes more often. I tried LXLE and it happen less often, about every 10 to 12 hours of use. The most stable distribution, the one that I use now, is Gnome Wheezy. With it, the same problem happen from time to time. The first time after about one month of use. And anything from 3 hours, to 2 or 3 days, or 2 weeks between lost screen problem.I can live with that.
I am 99,9% sure that the problem is a material one, since my graphic card is not supported by any Linux distribution.I will not do any additionnal test and I will install a new graphic card soon. If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1315938 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding.
