Public bug reported: With systemd, the mate-settings-daemon starts 10 minutes later after the desktop login. It means it works but I have to wait 10 minutes after the login. I found a way to reactivate Upstart. You can reactivate Upstart with "sudo apt-get install upstart-sysv". After that the mate-settings-daemon works without any problems.
