EricDHH, just to advise, I also had problems with updating a Lenovo laptop BIOS. In that instance, with different laptop 3.17 BIOS, I couldn't update via the .exe, I could only update to the 3.18 via ThinkVantage System Update, and the CD environment allowed me to fully update to the latest version 3.19. Hence, did you try all three methods?
