Thanks for the advise but according to this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases and if I understand correctly the end of life of 12.04 LTS is far from expired.
Anyway a backport is really the solution since if someone want to install a 14.04 from scratch instead of upgrading from a 12.04 he/she apparently have no other choice...
