You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On Ubuntu 8.10, using compiz (0.7.8), and the Sun Java 6 JDK + java
plug-in from the ubuntu repositories, when I do the following:

- Start Firefox (3.0.7)
- Go to http://www.xoxosoma.com/tokyo-tuesday/
- This pages loads a Java applet
- Problem: X11 crashes and I'm back to the GDM login screen

Also, browsing applets from www.openprocessing.org often leads to the
same problems. My guess is that there is some bad interaction between
the Java libs and the window manager, which seems to be confirmed by
this line from /var/messages
