Public bug reported: Since the latest Kernel upgrade, my laptop (Dell m4700) fails to show the login screen. I see the Ubuntu boot animation, but the screen turns black instead of showing the login screen. I'm using AMD proprietary drivers for my "Chelsea XT GL FirePro M4000" graphics card.
Loading the previous kernel (3.19.0-25-generic) via Grub works fine. There I can use the proprietary drivers from AMD. In the previous kernel, I switched the driver back to the open-source driver en then rebooted into the latest kernel (3.19.0-26-generic) and everything worked again.
