I have fixed the black cross cursor issue: https://git.launchpad.net/~xmir-team/xorg-server/+git/xmir/commit/?id=0f7427f24e5abd693395e7218eac9970f3011495 However there remains a problem with -flatten mode getting the wrong cursors (choosing that of the top level window instead of the flattened child).
