Well, this was supposed to be filed against xwayland, but apparently changing the package from the web page doesn't work. ubuntu-bug suggested/selected xorg initially.
** Description changed: Recently, pressing ALT-Left/Right has started switching VTs even when X is active. This was not a problem with 15.04. I don't think I had this issue when I initially upgraded to wily development, either, but I think it was an update I installed in the past few days. It does not seem to happen immediately after booting, and I am able to use ALT-Left/Right without issue (in Terminator and PyCharm, for example), but then at some point it will start switching VTs. I'm filing this bug against xwayland, because it's the running X server. - It shouldn't be - I chose 'GNOME' rather than 'GNOME on Wayland' - but - that is what is running. Since I can't seem to run without Wayland, I - can't test any other way. + It shouldn't be - I chose 'GNOME' rather than 'GNOME on Wayland' from + GDM - but that is what is running. Since I can't seem to run without + Wayland, I can't test any other way. Another user noticed this only happens with multiple monitors. I use multiple monitors as well, but haven't tested with only one monitor since the bug is not consistently reproducible. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2299545 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-16.19-lowlatency 4.2.3 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-16-lowlatency x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Tue Oct 20 15:51:26 2015 DistUpgraded: 2015-10-08 12:22:10,307 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: wily DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: - digitalpersona-module, 2.0.0.7-eepa1~trusty1, 4.2.0-15-lowlatency, x86_64: installed - digitalpersona-module, 2.0.0.7-eepa1~trusty1, 4.2.0-16-lowlatency, x86_64: installed - virtualbox, 5.0.4, 4.2.0-15-lowlatency, x86_64: installed - virtualbox, 5.0.4, 4.2.0-16-lowlatency, x86_64: installed + digitalpersona-module, 2.0.0.7-eepa1~trusty1, 4.2.0-15-lowlatency, x86_64: installed + digitalpersona-module, 2.0.0.7-eepa1~trusty1, 4.2.0-16-lowlatency, x86_64: installed + virtualbox, 5.0.4, 4.2.0-15-lowlatency, x86_64: installed + virtualbox, 5.0.4, 4.2.0-16-lowlatency, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, including running git bisection searches GraphicsCard: - Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) - Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:1854] + Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:1854] InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-02 (931 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Alpha amd64 (20130328) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP 2000 Notebook PC PlymouthDebug: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/plymouth-debug.log' ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.2.0-16-lowlatency root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root ro quiet splash zswap.enabled=1 vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to wily on 2015-10-08 (12 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 08/19/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: Insyde dmi.bios.version: F.11 dmi.board.asset.tag: Type2 - Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 1854 dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 64.12 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 5CG2350TBD dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnInsyde:bvrF.11:bd08/19/2012:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHP2000NotebookPC:pvr0888110003305910000620100:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn1854:rvr64.12:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: HP 2000 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: 0888110003305910000620100 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.12.2+15.10.20151015-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.64-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 11.0.2-1ubuntu4 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 11.0.2-1ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.17.2-1ubuntu9 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.9.2-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.5.0+git20150819-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20150808-0ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.11-1ubuntu3 xserver.bootTime: Mon Oct 19 15:39:46 2015 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: - + xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: - product id 5538 - vendor CMO + product id 5538 + vendor CMO xserver.version: 2:1.17.2-1ubuntu9 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508211 Title: ALT-Left/Right changes VT from X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1508211/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
