I am perfectly aware that my BIOS is out-of-date and this is a conscious decision. First of all, according to changelog, this BIOS update only implements code for uEFI security vulnerabilities, so the chance that anything in regard to this bug report will improve is relatively small. Additionally, a lot of users report problems after updating. Eventual update would also prohibit me from unlocking the BIOS, which I may need in the future.
As much as I would like to help improving Ubuntu, I will not upgrade the BIOS and risk overall stability of my system to confirm whether the freeze still happens. Sorry that I cannot be of more help.
