alternative patch; this doesn't quite work, it lets the
quickinspectortest tests pass but when running the full test suite,
strangely, it fails as follows:

it's unclear to me why this shows up as a failure to load the driver
when this loaded perfectly well when calling the test case directly.

Anyway, patch attached for consideration.
