Public bug reported:

After updating Kubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.10, the USB wireless mouse stops
functioning after some minutes. The time involved varies from 5-10 minutes to
hours. After rebooting the PC the mouse works again. Sometimes it helps if the
USB dongle is moved to another USB connection, but most of the time rebooting
is the only option to reactivate the mouse.
The mouse (HP NU566AA) was delivered with the HP Pavilion dv7 laptop and has
always worked OK and works perfectly when connected to another (Kubuntu 16.10)
PC.
Fortunately, the build-in touchpad remains operational.

Output of xsetpointer -l | grep Pointer
2: "Virtual core pointer" [XPointer]
4: "Virtual core XTEST pointer" [XExtensionPointer]
13: "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" [XExtensionPointer]

When the mous is functioning correctly, the following line is added to this
output:
11: "Primax HP Wireless Eco-Comfort Mobile Mouse" [XExtensionPointer]
