Hi Christopher okay I've done as you suggested, and no problem gradients work fine. I think the problem could be to do with the intel graphics firmware, as when I was on 16:10 there was some message about intel firmware (don't recall exactly). I tried to sort that out, but I couldn't get the drivers.
