I am not the original reporter of this bug, but am affected by it. I am running the 185 series non-free nvidia drivers and will fall back to the 180 series. But a question remains: even if it is a bug in a non-free driver, what has happened in Ku/Ubuntu development to trigger it only in the last 24 hours?
