<Shift> + 4 has resulted in the ¤ character on Nordic XKB keyboard
layouts for quite some time. If new keyboards tend to have the €
character printed on that key instead, there may be a reason to
reconsider it.

However, in any case this won't be changed in Ubuntu only. I would
suggest that you file an upstream bug report too.

Let me add: Using <AltGr> + E is not a workaround. It's currently *the*
natural way to type the € character with the keyboard layout - Finnish
(Macintosh), identical with Swedish (Macintosh) btw - you are using.

(To make it a bit extra complicated: The currency of Sweden is not
Euro.)
