Your XorgLog seems to show some bugs with the Nouveau driver that may
make the screen appear to freeze:

[ 11270.264] (WW) NOUVEAU(0): nouveau_dri2_flip_event_handler: Pageflip has
impossible msc 675984 < target_msc 675985
[ 12931.381] (WW) NOUVEAU(0): nouveau_dri2_flip_event_handler: Pageflip has
impossible msc 775617 < target_msc 775618
[ 13043.502] (WW) NOUVEAU(0): nouveau_dri2_flip_event_handler: Pageflip has
impossible msc 782342 < target_msc 782343

Can you please try installing the official Nvidia driver:

  sudo apt install nvidia-driver-390

and tell us if that avoids the problem?
