It appears the Xorg modeset driver is only offering you 1024x768 because it can't retrieve the EDID (monitor resolution information etc) from the monitor.
This might be a shortcoming of the monitor itself or it might be a cable problem. Please try: 1. A different monitor cable; or 2. The older intel driver: https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/en/man4/intel.4.html or 3. A different monitor. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1758261 Title: i want toinstall intel graphics for my pc which is as under To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1758261/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
