Thanks. The poor "choppy" graphics performance is expected because you are using kernel parameter "nomodeset". That prevents all hardware acceleration and smooth rendering from being used. The system is expected to use LLVMpipe in that case and it is not a bug...
Please instead open a new bug about the "freezing" issue that "nomodeset" is trying to avoid: 1. Remove kernel parameter "nomodeset". 2. Reboot and reproduce the "freezing". 3. Report a new bug by running command: ubuntu-bug linux Ideally, without "nomodeset" if you can. Otherwise with it. ** Summary changed: - Video Playback very choppy + Video Playback very choppy with nomodeset ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848965 Title: Video Playback very choppy with nomodeset To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1848965/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
