This bug has actually been fixed. At least in Bionic we now have: * xinit: Recommends: ... gnome-terminal | xterm | x-session-manager | x-window-manager | x-terminal-emulator * xorg: Depends: ... gnome-terminal | xterm | x-terminal-emulator, xinput
