Hello, I can confirm that this bug still exists in 20.04. I am using NVidia 340.108 because this is a 12 years old laptop with a completely obsolete GeForce GT230M.
Workaround #34 (removing quiet splash) worked but slows down the boot process due to the speed of writing on the console. Workaround #101 work fine: no "garbage" output on the console and no slow down. 12 years old PC booting in 40 sec (including 8.5 due to the BIOS itself). Unfortunately patching manually the grub.cfg does not withstand updates like kernel that will run update-grub, so I hope there will be a better patch soon! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1845801 Title: [nvidia] Automatic login fails and then all subsequent logins fail.
