Same problem here (Ubuntu 20.04, i915 driver, Skylake Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz ) : - glxgears and vlc both give a black window - /usr/bin/kcmshell5 kcm_networkmanagement returns a segfault.
'export MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965' seems to solve all this.
