Running a Logitech MX master 3 mouse, the middle mouse copy/paste isn't working out the box or is only working intermittently on boot. Using 'xinput --list-props 15' I'm seeing that the 'Middle Emulation Enabled (298)' is set to 0. If I set this to '1' by using 'xinput --set-prop 15 298 1' then turn the mouse off/on then I regain functionality. If I then switch to another computer attached to my KVM switch and back to this machine, the input is lost again. Attempting to set the default (299) value results in this error: X Error of failed request: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) Major opcode of failed request: 131 (XInputExtension) Minor opcode of failed request: 57 () Serial number of failed request: 20 Current serial number in output stream: 21 I can script this to get around it, it's just messy and unnecessary Copy of output from xinput --list-props: Device 'Logitech MX Master 3': Device Enabled (155): 1 Coordinate Transformation Matrix (157): 1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000 libinput Natural Scrolling Enabled (291): 0 libinput Natural Scrolling Enabled Default (292): 0 libinput Scroll Methods Available (293): 0, 0, 1 libinput Scroll Method Enabled (294): 0, 0, 0 libinput Scroll Method Enabled Default (295): 0, 0, 0 libinput Button Scrolling Button (296): 2 libinput Button Scrolling Button Default (297): 2 libinput Middle Emulation Enabled (298): 0 libinput Middle Emulation Enabled Default (299): 0 libinput Accel Speed (300): 0.000000 libinput Accel Speed Default (301): 0.000000 libinput Accel Profiles Available (302): 1, 1 libinput Accel Profile Enabled (303): 1, 0 libinput Accel Profile Enabled Default (304): 1, 0 libinput Left Handed Enabled (305): 0 libinput Left Handed Enabled Default (306): 0 libinput Send Events Modes Available (276): 1, 0 libinput Send Events Mode Enabled (277): 0, 0 libinput Send Events Mode Enabled Default (278): 0, 0 Device Node (279): "/dev/input/event8" Device Product ID (280): 1133, 16514 libinput Drag Lock Buttons (307): <no items> libinput Horizontal Scroll Enabled (308): 1 --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.8 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: XFCE DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-08-30 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 20.04.1 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200731) NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia Package: xfce4-settings 4.14.3-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-42.46-generic 5.4.44 Tags: focal Uname: Linux 5.4.0-42-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin lxd plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected focal -- X forgets middle mouse button exists https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893638 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
