Thanks. This is probably an issue with the default 'nouveau' kernel
driver. That causes so many bugs that I would always recommend
installing the Nvidia 470 driver instead, as you have.

I would not expect a fix for 'nouveau' any time soon as it is not well
supported. But if you are using the Nvidia proprietary driver then that
won't affect you.
