Reviewing the Xorg code changes between 21.1.3 and 21.1.4 I do think bug 1999213 is most likely where this was fixed. The fix for bug 1999213 does also appear to fix the crashing line of code we have here in FreezeThisEventIfNeededForSyncGrab.
