The attached files show that the kernel does indeed have an 'nvidia' driver but it's not being used for some reason. And Xorg, as of Dec 11 at least, does not have any knowledge of an Nvidia card.
Please run: lspci -k > lspci.txt journalctl -b0 > journal.txt and attach the resulting text files here so we can see more up to date information. Please also open the 'Additional Drivers' app and verify that it shows an Nvidia driver is currently in use. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2046189 Title: Xorg freezes on external displays when in Gnome Shell on Nvidia graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/2046189/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
