Thanks for the bug report. What you are seeing isn't a compositor freeze
but rather just the app window failing to get a new texture. The
compositor assumes there is one so it doesn't render the pixels
underneath and you get a flickering mess of previous frames...
1. Does it happen with any other apps?
2. Please run:
gnome-extensions list --enabled
and tell us what is listed.
